Bihar Cobbler Arrested for Alleged Espionage at Bathinda Cantonment

A 26-year-old man hailing from the state of Bihar has been apprehended by the Indian Army within the confines of Bathinda Cantonment. Sunil Kumar Ram, whose occupation is listed as a cobbler, stands accused of engaging in espionage activities on behalf of Pakistan.

According to official sources, the arrest followed the discovery of Sunil’s alleged involvement in transmitting sensitive information, including photographs of the military installation, via the popular messaging application WhatsApp. The recipient of these transmissions is reported to be a woman residing in Pakistan.

Furthermore, authorities have indicated that Sunil was purportedly receiving monetary compensation in exchange for the intelligence he was sharing. This revelation has triggered significant alarm among security agencies, particularly given the prevailing heightened tensions between India and Pakistan in the aftermath of the recent tragic terror attack in Pahalgam. The incident underscores the persistent challenges posed by cross-border espionage and the vulnerabilities associated with the misuse of digital communication platforms.
