Bihar Deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav Skips CBI Summon
Guwahati: The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader and deputy chief minister of Bihar Tejashwi Yadav missed his Saturday hearing with the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
According to reports, his wife is hospitalised due to pregnancy. She reportedly lost consciousness after ‘twelve hours of questioning by the ED due to blood pressure issues,’ reports stated.
The Bihar deputy chief minister received a first summons on February 4. However, even then he failed to show up before the CBI officials reported.
A day after the Enforcement Directorate (ED) raided Yadav’s Delhi home on Friday, the CBI had called him to appear before it in relation to the land-for-jobs scam.
The ED reportedly carried out raids based on a FIR that the CBI had submitted in connection with the case.
The mother of Tejashwi Yadav Rabri Devi, a former chief minister of Bihar was being questioned by a CBI team earlier on March 6 in relation to the purported land-for-job scam.
When Lalu Prasad Yadav held the position of railway minister from 2004 to 2009, it was alleged that Rabri was appointed to positions within the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) in return for gifts of land or sales of land to Yadav’s family.
There was a noticeable increase in protection outside Rabri’s home.
During the CBI questioning, Rabri Devi’s children Tejashwi Yadav and state Forest and Environment Minister Tej Pratap Yadav were present.
Lalu Prasad Yadav, his wife Rabri Devi and 14 other people were subpoenaed by a Delhi judge last month in relation to the alleged scam.
The defendants were told to show up in court on March 15.
