Biplab Kumar Deb Criticizes Mamata Banerjee’s Governance and Law and Order Situation in West Bengal

Northeast Desk, 18th June: Former Tripura Chief Minister and Rajya Sabha MP Biplab Kumar Deb has strongly criticized West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s governance following the end of the 34-year Communist rule in the state. Deb’s remarks come amid growing concerns over law and order issues and alleged attacks on BJP workers in West Bengal.

“You (Mamata Banerjee) have put an end to the 34-year-long rule of the Communists, for which I thank you. But what have you done since then? You have done things that even the Communists didn’t do… She has demeaned the land of Bengal,” Deb remarked, highlighting his discontent with Banerjee’s tenure.

During his visit to Cooch Behar, West Bengal, leading a fact-finding team on post-poll violence, Deb accused the Trinamool Congress (TMC) and Banerjee of failing to maintain law and order and orchestrating unprovoked attacks on BJP workers. “The people in Bengal are facing severe hardships due to the current state government,” he stated.

Deb expressed grave concerns about the ongoing violence in the state, noting that an MP delegation visits West Bengal annually after elections due to persistent violence. “The attacks on BJP workers, including killings and arson, indicate that a healthy democracy does not exist here, and the law and order situation has completely collapsed,” he said. He urged Banerjee to address these issues and take responsibility for the safety of the people, criticizing the current state of governance.

He further alleged that TMC-backed goons brutally raped a woman, assaulted her husband and son, and vandalized houses, underscoring the severity of the situation. Deb’s statements highlight the ongoing political tensions and challenges in West Bengal, calling for immediate action to restore order and protect citizens.
