BJP Announces 16-Member Election Management Committee in Tripura

Guwahati: The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of Tripura announced the creation of a 16-member election administration committee ahead of the 2018 assembly elections in the state.

State president of the party Rajib Bhattacharjee will serve as the chairman of the committee.

Members of the group include the deputy chief minister Jishnu Devvarma, the Rajya Sabha member Biplab Kumar Deb, the union minister Pratima Bhoumik, and the MP Rebati Tripura.

BJP’s national spokesperson Sambit Patra, who is the coordinator for Northeast, and state in-charge Mahesh Sharma were given special invitations to the committee, according to the party spokesperson Nabendu Bhattacharjee.

According to reports, Sambit Patra is planning to visit the state on October 19 and 20 to expedite the party’s preparations for the 2023 assembly elections.

BJP National General Secretary BL Santosh is probably going to visit the state on October 21.

The union home minister Amit Shah is reportedly planning to visit the state in November, which is a crucial election month.
