BJP Concedes Defeat in Himachal Pradesh as CM Jairam Thakur Resigns

Guwahati: Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jairam Thakur resigned on Thursday and presented his resignation to the governor.

The Congress surged ahead of the BJP and appeared to be on track to gain a majority in Himachal Pradesh with 16 seats won and a lead in 23 more.

“I’ve given the governor my letter of resignation. will never cease striving for human growth. We must conduct an analysis. The results’ trajectory was altered by a few problems. If they call us, I’ll travel to Delhi, the outgoing CM said.

The ruling BJP has won 13 seats and is in the lead in an equal number, according to the most recent statistics and trends.

Moreover, three Independents have triumphed.   

No incumbent government has held office in Himachal Pradesh since 1985.

The chief minister of the hill state conceded defeat even as the votes were being tabulated. According to the Election Commission’s data, the Congress is in the lead with a majority of 68 seats., He also made an apparent jab at the grand old party in response to remarks made by Congress leaders about the expected horse-trading of MLAs. “Their MLAs have been elected. Now it’s their job to protect them. It’s their job to protect the majority. ” he was heard saying in a televised briefing.

Congratulating the Congress, he further said, “I hope they will deliver on the promises they made. We will continue to raise issues of the public. In this election, another important thing is that the margin was very low, less than 1,000. The vote-share has a difference of just 1 per cent.” On the AAP’s poll performance, he said: “There was no party presence of the party..”
