BJP Conducts Tree Plantation Drive at Catholic Church in Arunachal Pradesh, Emphasizing Environmental Conservation

Northeast Desk, 28th June: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) made a significant environmental outreach in Arunachal Pradesh by organizing a large-scale tree plantation drive at the Catholic Church compound in the state capital on June 28. This initiative coincided with the death anniversary of BJP’s founder, Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, underscoring the party’s commitment to environmental conservation and community engagement.

Led by the BJP Kisan Morcha, the plantation drive saw the participation of state office bearers, spokespersons, and officials from various party wings. Over 200 saplings were planted despite heavy rain, highlighting the urgency of environmental protection and water conservation in the face of global climate challenges.

Gumsen Lollen, State President of BJP Kisan Morcha, and other prominent party leaders including Kohman Lungphi Ngemu, Tai Tagak, Kame Yangfo, Ritenso Manyu, Samsung Siongju, Tadar Niglar, and Dunggoli Libang actively participated in the event. The initiative aimed not only at enhancing green cover but also at promoting sustainable practices among local communities.

Speaking on the occasion, Tai Tagak emphasized the non-political nature of the event, stating, “This plantation drive was organized to foster environmental awareness and contribute positively to our community. Trees play a vital role in mitigating climate change, and their planting is a gesture of goodwill towards the local community.”

The event’s location at the Catholic Church was chosen to benefit worshipers and visitors in the long term, aligning with BJP’s inclusive ethos as a secular party. Despite setbacks in Nagaland where a similar cleanliness drive proposal was rejected, BJP leaders reiterated their commitment to environmental stewardship in Arunachal Pradesh.

Tadar Niglar highlighted that the tree plantation drive was part of a week-long series of social programs commemorating Shyama Prasad Mukherjee’s legacy. These initiatives, including cleanliness drives and community engagements, reflect BJP’s holistic approach towards societal welfare and environmental sustainability.

This news story captures the BJP’s recent initiative in Arunachal Pradesh, emphasizing environmental stewardship and community engagement amidst local and regional contexts.
