BJP Confident Ahead of Jharkhand Assembly Elections: Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma

Guwahati: As Jharkhand gears up for its upcoming assembly elections, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who is also serving as BJP’s co-in-charge for the polls, expressed confidence in the party’s preparations.

Addressing the media, Sarma highlighted the positive response within the party, noting a reduction in dissatisfaction over candidate selection compared to previous years.

Sarma acknowledged that the release of the candidate list has historically led to discontent and occasional resignations in Jharkhand.

However, he emphasized a shift this time, stating, “There has been a history in Jharkhand where some discontent emerges, and a few resignations follow the release of the candidate list. However, we are seeing encouraging signs this time, with many party members expressing enthusiasm. Our party is large, and if any members do feel dissatisfied, we will address their concerns directly.”

He further added that any initial reactions of discontent are common across political parties but would not hinder BJP’s electoral prospects.

During his address, Sarma also underscored BJP’s stance against nepotism. “There is no ‘parivarvaad’ (dynastic politics) in our party,” he asserted.

Despite senior leaders like Arjun Munda and Raghubar Das not contesting themselves, family members—Munda’s wife and Das’s daughter-in-law—are in the fray. Sarma emphasized that this decision reflects the party’s commitment to providing opportunities based on merit while avoiding hereditary politics.

With the election campaign gaining momentum, BJP’s leadership remains optimistic, focusing on addressing concerns, unifying the party, and upholding its stance against dynastic practices to secure a favorable outcome in the polls.
