BJP Dominates Assam Panchayat Polls, Leads in ZPC and AP Segments
Guwahati: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is currently maintaining a significant lead in the Assam Panchayat elections, as vote counting progresses across the state. As of 1 PM, the party has secured a commanding position in both Zila Parishad Constituencies (ZPC) and Anchalik Panchayat (AP) segments.
Vote counting, initiated this morning, has yielded consistent results from various districts, indicating a strong performance by the BJP. In the ZPC seat leads, the BJP is ahead with 52 seats, followed by Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) with 10 seats, Congress with 5 seats, and others with 1 seat. Raijor Dal and All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) have yet to secure any leads in this segment.
Similarly, in the AP seat leads, the BJP is leading with 351 seats, AGP with 41 seats, Congress with 35 seats, AIUDF with 2 seats, Raijor Dal with 0 seats and others with 17 seats. The regional ally, AGP, has shown a notable presence, particularly in Upper Assam, while Congress trails behind but retains influence in specific areas.
Newer political entities such as AJP and Raijor Dal, despite their active ground presence, have not yet registered substantial leads. The vote counting process is ongoing across numerous centers under stringent security measures and administrative supervision.
