BJP Leader Kamal Dey Found Dead Near His Residence in Guwahati

Guwahati: The lifeless body of Kamal Dey, the BJP Jalukbari Mandal President, was discovered near his residence in Shankar Nagar, Maligaon, on the morning of January 6. The tragic discovery was made by a passerby during a morning walk, who found Dey critically injured near the roadside.

Dey, who sustained severe head injuries, was immediately rushed to Swagat Super Speciality Surgical Institute, where doctors declared him dead on arrival. His body was later sent to Gauhati Medical College Hospital (GMCH) for a post-mortem examination.

Initially, suspicions arose that the BJP leader may have been murdered by miscreants while returning home late at night. However, Guwahati City Police Commissioner Partha Sarathi Mahanta, who visited the site, dismissed these claims during preliminary investigations. “CCTV footage from the area indicates that the incident was caused by an accident at a speed breaker at 2:47 am,” Mahanta stated.

Despite these findings, doubts persist, and allegations of foul play have led to the involvement of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and a forensic team to ensure a comprehensive investigation into the incident.

Grief and shock have enveloped Dey’s residence in Pandu, where family members and supporters mourn the untimely loss of a prominent political leader. As investigations continue, clarity regarding the circumstances of his death is eagerly awaited.
