BJP leader Sarbananda Sonowal likely to file nomination for Dibrugarh LS constituency on March 26
Guwahati, 21st March: Candidates in Assam are preparing to file their nominations for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
BJP’s Sarbananda Sonowal is expected to file his nomination for the Dibrugarh constituency on March 26, accompanied by Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Lurinjyoti Gogoi of the Asom Jatiya Parishad is also set to file his nomination on the same day, while Aam Aadmi Party’s Manoj Dhanowar plans to do so on March 27.
All three candidates collected their nomination forms on Wednesday, with the final date for filing being March 27.
Assam’s Chief Electoral Officer, Anurag Goel, outlined key dates and procedures for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The elections will be conducted in three phases for a fair democratic process.
The first phase is scheduled for April 19, with the official notification released on March 20. Nomination filing will close on March 27, followed by scrutiny on March 28 and withdrawal by March 30. The second phase will take place on April 26, with key dates including notification on March 28, nomination filing closing on April 4, scrutiny on April 5, and withdrawal by April 8. The third and final phase is slated for May 7, with notification on April 12, nomination filing closing on April 19, scrutiny on April 20, and withdrawal by April 22.
