BJP leader Sonali Phogat was murdered, claims brother

Guwahati: Sonali Phogat’s brother has filed a formal complaint with the Goa Police alleging that she was murdered by two of her associates. Sonali was a BJP leader and actress who passed away in Goa yesterday.

She allegedly spoke to her mother, sister, and brother-in-law soon before she passed away and seemed uneasy, according to Phogat’s brother Rinku Dhaka. She allegedly lodged a complaint against two of her co-workers.

Dhaka added that after she passed away, her farmhouse in Haryana’s CCTV cameras, laptops, and other similar stuff had vanished.

Phogat (42) was the BJP leader from Haryana’s Hisar who became famous on TikTok. She was “brought dead” on Tuesday at the St Anthony Hospital in Anjuna, North Goa, a police officer said, adding that she likely had a heart attack.

A case of an unnatural death had been reported to the Anjuna Police. However, Phogat’s brother asserted in his police complaint that she was murdered in Goa by two of her friends.

We had urged her to remain away from them and return to Hisar the following day (after Ms. Phogat spoke to her mother),” Dhaka told reporters outside Anjuna police station.

Moreover, he stated that the police had declined to file a FIR against the two people. Dhaka declared, “We would not permit the postmortem to be performed in Goa if the FIR is not lodged against them.

He added that the family members would like that the postmortem be performed at the AIIMS in Delhi or Jaipur.

She spent the previous 15 years as a BJP leader. We will also make a request of the Prime Minister, he continued, to assist us in obtaining justice for her.
