BJP MLA Karam Shyam Dismisses Speculation of President’s Rule Amid Manipur Political Crisis

Imphal – As political uncertainty deepens in Manipur, BJP MLA Karam Shyam dismissed speculations regarding the imposition of President’s Rule, expressing confidence that central leaders and state legislators would resolve the crisis.

Speaking to reporters before his scheduled meeting with BJP North East in-charge Sambit Patra at Hotel Imphal, Shyam stated, “I don’t know about the imposition of President’s Rule. I think the problem will be solved by central leaders with the help of state legislators. I don’t think there will be a constitutional crisis in Manipur.” His remarks came as the six-month interval since the last sitting of the Manipur Assembly ended today, leaving the state’s political landscape uncertain.

In an effort to navigate the crisis, Sambit Patra has been holding a series of one-on-one meetings with BJP MLAs since February 10. Earlier today, he also met Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla at Raj Bhawan, but remained tight-lipped after the 50-minute discussion, declining to disclose any potential developments when questioned by reporters.

Adding to the anticipation, Minister Leishangthem Sushindro also arrived at Hotel Imphal, though he has yet to issue a statement. With mounting tensions and no official resolution in sight, attention remains fixed on the BJP’s central leadership as they deliberate the next course of action for Manipur.
