BJP MLA Questions Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan’s Love for Mumtaz Mahal

Guwahati: BJP MLA Rupjyoti Kurmi has now asked for an investigation into Mughal ruler Shah Jahan’s fourth marriage.

Kurmi stated, “If the Taj Mahal is considered as an epitome of love of Shah Jahan and his fourth wife Mumtaj Mahal, then what happened to his other three wives? An investigation should be initiated”

Mughal emperor Shah Jahan built the Taj Mahal as a loving remembrance to his wife Mumtaz Mahal.

The white marble mausoleum is still regarded as one of the greatest architectural and artistic accomplishments and is listed by UNESCO.

The emperor was infatuated with one of the most stunning queens also known as Mallika-e-Hindustani. The couple had 14 children in all, but only 7 of them survived.

On this day in 1631, the empress passed away while giving birth to her final child as a result of complications with her pregnancy. Her remains are interred in a golden coffin in a modest structure on Yamuna’s bank.

On April 4, a Mariani-based Assam BJP lawmaker urged PM Modi to destroy the Taj Mahal and Qutub Minar and erect temples in their place.

Addressing the media, the Mariani BJP MLA Rupjyoti Kurmi said, “I urge PM Modi to demolish the Taj Mahal and Qutub Minar and build the world’s most beautiful temple.”

The MLA further argued that the temple’s design should prevent any other institution or establishment from having a similar architectural style.

The MLA stated that he is prepared to sacrifice his entire income for one year to the construction of the temples.
