Guwahati: Telangana BJP MLA T Raja Singh was apprehended on Tuesday morning for allegedly making disparaging remarks about the Prophet Muhammad.
The arrest comes after protests yesterday night in Hyderabad calling for action against him because of a video he published in which he is heard making insulting remarks about the Prophet Muhammad.
According to the police, a case was registered under the law’s provisions covering insulting religious beliefs.
Reports state that when the video leaked online, protests started in front of the city police commissioner’s office and in other areas in Hyderabad.
The protesters said that Singh had hurt the sentiments of the community and demanded his immediate arrest.
