BJP MLA’s Son Among 7 Killed in Accident in Maharashtra
Guwahati: Seven students from a medical college, including the son of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Vijay Rahangdale, died when their car crashed into a bridge in Wardha district of Maharashtra on Monday night.
The incident took place around 1.30am in the Selsura village of the district.
The students have been identified as Avishkar Rahangdale and Pawan Shakti were first-year students, and Nitesh Singh was a medical intern, while Neeraj Chauhan, Vivek Nandan, Pratyush Singh, and Shubham Jaiswal were final-year MBBS students.
According to reports, the students were from Wardha’s Sawangi Medical College.
However, they were on their way to Wardha from Deoli.
As per reports, the driver of the car lost control.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his sorrow at the accident’s fatalities. He also declared that the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund would provide a total of 2 lakh to the families of those who died and 50,000 to the injured.
Sharing the news on Twitter, Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) tweeted wrote, “Pained by the loss of lives due to an accident near Selsura in Maharashtra. In this hour of sadness, my thoughts are with those who have lost their loved ones. I pray that those injured are able to recover soon: PM.”
