Northeast Desk, 11th April: The Bharatiya Janata Party’s national president, JP Nadda, revealed the party’s manifesto, known as ‘Sankalp Patra,’ tailored specifically for the upcoming Sikkim Assembly Election 2024.

The launch event for the ‘Sankalp Patra’ took place on April 11 at the Manan Kendra in Sikkim, with Nadda leading the proceedings.

The manifesto primarily focuses on addressing the pressing issue of unemployment within the state, emphasizing the importance of job creation and overall development. Nadda was joined by key figures such as Sikkim BJP In-charge Dr. Dilip Jaiswal, State BJP President Dr. R. Thapa, Leader of the Opposition Shri N.K. Subba, BJP MP candidate Dinesh Chandra Nepal, and others.

Additionally, the manifesto addresses the matter of revenue generation, outlining concerns and proposed solutions. It also underscores a firm stance against corruption, pledging stringent actions to tackle this issue effectively.

Nadda took the opportunity to clarify the BJP’s stance towards Christianity, citing the party’s governance in Nagaland, where the majority of the population is Christian, as evidence. He also paid homage to the Guardian deity of Sikkim, Mount Kanchenzunga.

Highlighting the Prime Minister’s unique vision for the Northeast as the gateway of Asia, Nadda emphasized the BJP’s commitment to ensuring last-mile delivery and connectivity in the region. He contrasted the previous government’s policy of isolation and neglect with the BJP’s proactive approach, encapsulated in the “Look East, Act East” policy, which has integrated the Northeast into the national mainstream.

Nadda further pointed out the transformation witnessed in the Northeast under BJP rule, from a region once synonymous with conflict to one experiencing peace and prosperity. He highlighted achievements such as the signing of 11 peace accords, the surrender of over 9000 insurgents, an 82 percent reduction in violent incidents, and significant investments totaling 5 lakh crore in the region for various developmental projects.
