BJP Questions Arvind Kejriwal’s Delayed Resignation, Calls Move ‘Mysterious’
National Desk, 15th September: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday expressed concerns over Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s announcement to resign after a 48-hour delay, labeling the decision as “mysterious.” Kejriwal made the statement during a recent address to Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) workers, revealing his intention to step down but only after two days.
At a press conference, BJP MP Sudhanshu Trivedi criticized the delay, calling it “ridiculous” considering AAP’s strong majority in the Delhi Assembly. “If Kejriwal is genuinely intent on resigning, he should immediately call a Cabinet meeting, resign, and recommend the dissolution of the Assembly,” Trivedi asserted.
The BJP also condemned the celebration by AAP supporters following Kejriwal’s release from Tihar Jail, which included fireworks despite the Delhi government’s own ban on crackers. “He is the first Chief Minister to come out of jail and violate his own administration’s rules,” Trivedi added.
Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva further raised questions about AAP’s controversial 2021 excise policy, which was withdrawn just a year later, linking it to the ongoing liquor policy scam investigation. The BJP emphasized the need for transparency and accountability amid these developments.
