BJP Releases 1st List of 160 Candidates For Gujarat Assembly Polls
Guwahati: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday announced the initial list of 160 candidates for the Gujarat Assembly elections.
According to reports, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel would contest for office in the Ghatlodia district.
The identities of the candidates were revealed during a joint press conference that was addressed by Union Ministers Mansukh Mandviya, Bhupender Yadav, and State BJP Chief CR Paatil.
According to reports, the cricketer Ravindra Jadeja’s wife Rivaba Jadeja received a ticket and will contest from the Jamnagar in North district.
Former leader of the Congress Hardik Patel who left the group and joined the BJP will contest the election from the Viramgam constituency.
The minister of the interior for Gujarat Harsh Sanghavi will contest from the Majura constituency.
Notably, the BJP held its Central Election Committee (CEC) meeting on Wednesday at its headquarters under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. National president JP Nadda, Maharashtra’s deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, Union Minister Bhupendra Yadav, the former chief minister of Karnataka, BS Yediyurappa, and others arrived at the party headquarters for the meeting.
The former chief minister of Gujarat Vijay Rupani and three other BJP officials quickly declared that they would contest in the state’s upcoming assembly elections in order to create room for the fresh faces.
The BJP core group met at Nadda’s house to discuss the upcoming elections in Gujarat.
The BJP is running for reelection in Gujarat where the state has long been their stronghold.
Gujarat will hold elections on December 1 and December 5.
