BJP Releases Revised Candidate List for Jammu and Kashmir Assembly Election 2024

National Desk, 26th August: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has unveiled a revised list of 15 candidates for the first phase of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly Election 2024. This update comes after the party withdrew its initial list following dissatisfaction among senior leaders who were excluded.

The revised list features key candidates such as Vir Saraf, a Kashmiri Pandit, who is nominated from Anantnag East-Shangus, and Shagun Parihar, the only female candidate, representing Kishtwar. This strategic overhaul aims to address internal discontent and broaden the party’s appeal across the region.

However, notable absences from the list include Jammu and Kashmir BJP President Ravinder Raina and former Deputy Chief Ministers Nirmal Singh and Kavinder Gupta, raising questions about the party’s overall strategy.

The Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections are set to occur in three phases, beginning on September 18 and ending on October 1, with the results to be announced on October 4.
