BJP Sikkim President DR Thapa Highlights Key Issues in Dinner with Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia

Northeast Desk, 6th September: BJP Sikkim State President DR Thapa participated in an exclusive dinner hosted by Union Minister for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) Jyotiraditya Scindia on the evening of September 5. The gathering, which also included notable personalities from Sikkim such as boxing coach Sandhya Gurung, footballer Nirmal Chettri, Sikkim Hotel and Restaurant Association President Saradha Sharma, and radio jockey Priyanka Tamang, provided a platform for discussing Sikkim’s development.

During the event, Thapa raised critical issues impacting the state’s growth. He specifically highlighted the deteriorating condition of National Highway 10, which was severely damaged by the Teesta Flood last year. Thapa urged Minister Scindia to prioritize infrastructure improvements to ensure continuous connectivity for Sikkim.

Thapa also emphasized the potential of Sikkim’s tourism sector, which is a major source of employment. He requested the Minister to explore new opportunities for tourism development, leveraging the state’s cultural heritage and natural beauty.

The dinner also provided a forum for the eminent personalities to share their experiences and offer suggestions for further improvements. Minister Scindia welcomed their feedback, seeking insights to unlock Sikkim’s development potential.

In a separate engagement, DR Thapa also discussed organizational matters with the Minister, focusing on strengthening the BJP’s presence in Sikkim. The minister is on a two-day visit to Sikkim and is expected to attend a review meeting with the state government.
