BJP Suspends Telangana MLA T Raja Singh Over Prophet Muhammad

Guwahati: Telangana BJP leader T Raja Singh was expelled from the party for allegedly commenting against Prophet Muhammad on Tuesday.

According to reports, the BJP’s central disciplinary committee made the dicision.

The suspension letter read, “You have expressed views contrary to the Party’s position on various matters, which is in clear violation of Rule XXV.10(a) of the constitution of the Bharatiya Janata Party.”

“I have been directed to convey to you that pending further inquiry, you are suspended from the party and from your responsibilities/assignments if any, with immediate effect. Please also show cause within 10 days from the date of this notice as to why should you not be expelled from the party. Your detailed reply must reach the undersigned no later than 2nd of September 2022,” it added.

Police detained MLA Singh earlier today for the aforementioned cause. At the Dabeerpura Police Station, a FIR was filed against him in accordance with sections 153a, 295, and 505 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

The arrest follows demonstrations calling for action against him on Monday in Hyderabad after a video he uploaded in which he is heard making obscene statements about the Prophet Muhammad.

Additionally, Singh, an MLA from the city’s Goshamahal, made an attempt to sabotage a comedy concert last week. On Friday, when he and about 50 followers attempted to arrive at the location of stand-up comic Munawar Faruqui’s show to demand that it be cancelled, he was placed into preventive arrest by the police.
