BJP Vows Eternal Service to Nation on 46th Foundation Day
Guwahati: Guwahati witnessed a fervent display of political resolve as Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, addressing party workers on the Bharatiya Janata Party’s 46th foundation day, declared that the BJP’s commitment to the nation would endure “till sun and moon are there.”
Sarma emphasized the party’s pivotal role in India’s ascent to global leadership, warning that any attempt to weaken the BJP would equate to obstructing the nation’s progress. He urged every party member to pledge their dedication to making India a global leader in the coming years.
Sarma cautioned that various factions would seek to undermine and discredit the party’s forward momentum. He highlighted the potential for social media to be used as a tool for defamation and weakening the BJP, stressing the need for a robust online presence to disseminate positive messages. The Chief Minister pointed to the construction of the Ram temple as a symbolic act of liberation from “500 years of slavery,” transcending the mere building of a religious structure.
Reinforcing the party’s nationalistic ethos, Sarma asserted that national interests supersede personal ambitions. He credited the BJP with enacting significant legislation, including the Waqf Bill, the abolition of Section 370, and the outlawing of Triple Talaq, which he claimed would not have occurred under other political leadership. He also highlighted the BJP’s role in driving development in the Northeast.
Sarma asserted that the BJP has profoundly impacted Assam, securing electoral victories across all autonomous councils, municipal councils, and panchayat bodies. He emphasized the party’s dedication to strengthening Assamese society and promoting community pride.
Earlier in the day, Sarma, along with Assam BJP chief Dilip Saikia, hoisted the party flag at the state headquarters, paying tribute to the party’s dedicated workers. Sarma claimed that the BJP’s membership now exceeds that of the Communist Party of China. He also vowed that the BJP would never succumb to family-oriented politics, a practice he attributed to Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi’s transformation of the Congress party. He reiterated that the BJP would remain a worker-led party, distinct from others.
