BJP’s Assam Membership Drive Garners 58.11 Lakh New Members, Says CM Himanta Biswa Sarma

Assam: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on October 10 that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has successfully enrolled over 58.11 lakh new members in the state as part of its ongoing membership drive. The initiative, which began in early September, aims to strengthen the party’s presence across Assam’s 126 assembly constituencies ahead of upcoming elections.

In a post on X, Sarma commended the successful campaign in Teok and Titabor constituencies, where over 40,000 members have joined the BJP. “With 58.11 lakh new members, @BJP4Assam is nearing 100 percent of the target we had set,” Sarma wrote, praising the dedication of party workers.

The membership drive is part of a broader strategy to enroll new members equivalent to 75 percent of the total votes BJP secured in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. In contrast, around 18 lakh people signed up for BJP membership in Assam last year.
