BJP’s Sambit Patra Meets Manipur Governor Amid Political Uncertainty

Imphal– BJP’s Northeast in-charge Sambit Patra met Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla at Raj Bhawan on Wednesday morning, intensifying speculation amid the ongoing political turmoil in the state.

The high-profile meeting, which lasted nearly an hour, has raised questions about possible developments in Manipur’s governance, though Patra refrained from commenting on the matter when approached by reporters.

The visit comes at a time when Manipur is witnessing heightened political activity, with uncertainty looming over the state’s leadership.

While no official details of the discussions were released, political observers believe the meeting could be linked to BJP’s internal deliberations on stabilizing the state government.

Adding to the intrigue, Patra has been holding a series of meetings with key state BJP leaders, MLAs, and ministers over the past few days. On February 11, he convened a crucial discussion at Hotel Imphal, continuing a process of selective engagement that began on February 10.

The discussions reportedly focused on addressing the state’s governance challenges and devising strategies to restore normalcy.

Several influential figures within the party attended these closed-door meetings, including ministers and MLAs such as Sapam Ranjan, K. Ibomcha, Sheikh Noorul Hassain, Sapam Kunjeswar, and Minister Th. Biswajit.

Sources indicate that the meetings primarily revolved around ways to de-escalate tensions and regain political stability.

Following his discussion with Patra, MLA Sapam Keba spoke briefly to the media, stating that all key decisions regarding Manipur’s political situation would be made by the BJP high command.

He emphasized that the primary concern remains the restoration of peace, urging the Centre to take decisive steps in stabilizing the state. Keba further hinted that an official decision on the path forward is expected soon.

As speculation continues to grow, political analysts believe the recent flurry of meetings signals a potential shift in Manipur’s political landscape. With BJP’s central leadership closely monitoring the developments, the coming days could bring significant changes in the state’s governance.
