Blast at Ludhiana Court Complex: 2 dead, Several injured

Guwahati: Two persons died and several got injured in a blast that took place at Ludhiana Court complex in poll-bound Punjab on Thursday.

As per the reports, the explosion occurred in the washroom on the second floor of the court building.

According to the Ludhiana police commissioner, the blast occurred near the record room on the second floor of the court building. He also said that a bomb disposal and forensics team from Chandigarh had been dispatched to the scene to investigate the explosion.

According to reports, the blast was of high intensity which causes damage to the courthouse and the cars parked in the court’s parking lot. The reason for the explosion will only be known following a police inquiry.

In response to the tragedy, Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi announced that he will travel to Ludhiana to assess the situation. “In Ludhiana, there was a blast. I’m flying to Ludhiana right now “In Chandigarh, Channi told reporters.

“Some anti-national and anti-state elements are attempting to conduct such heinous atrocities, and the government is on high alert, as should the people,” CM stated, adding that the perpetrators will not be spared.

 

The area has been blocked, according to Ludhiana Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, and forensic experts will gather samples from the blast scene. Preliminary investigations have been launched by the police.
