Blast Reported in Lahore Amid Tensions Following Indian Strikes in PoK
LAHORE— A loud explosion rattled Pakistan’s eastern city of Lahore on Thursday morning, a day after Indian armed forces executed Operation Sindoor—a series of precision strikes targeting terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). The blast was first reported by Geo TV and later confirmed by a Reuters correspondent present in the city.
While the cause and impact of the explosion are yet to be officially verified, the timing has intensified concerns amid an already volatile atmosphere between India and Pakistan. The Indian military action was a direct response to the April 22 terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam, where 26 Indian civilians—mostly Hindus—were killed in a brutal assault.
Operation Sindoor, described by Indian officials as a “measured and targeted response,” struck nine key terror installations, including strongholds of Jaish-e-Mohammad and Lashkar-e-Taiba. The strikes have drawn global attention and heightened alert levels across both sides of the Line of Control.
Thursday’s blast in Lahore has raised fears of a possible retaliatory cycle, with diplomatic channels now under intense strain. As the situation develops, calls for restraint and de-escalation are beginning to emerge from the international community, though both nations remain on high military alert.
