Body of Meghalaya IFS Officer to Be Brought to Bangalore for Cremation

Northeast Desk, 11th October: The post-mortem examination of Dr. C. Manjunathan, an Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer serving as the Secretary in charge of the Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Department, was completed at Civil Hospital, Shillong. According to the post-mortem report, the cause of Dr. Manjunathan’s tragic passing was attributed to a blockage of blood flow to the heart, likely leading to a cardiac arrest on the evening of Tuesday.

The post-mortem procedure was conducted by medical professionals from Civil Hospital, Shillong, and Woodland Hospital. Subsequently, a small condolence ceremony was organized by the Government of Meghalaya, attended by various officials, including the Minister in charge of Animal Husbandry, AL Hek, Health Minister Dr. M. Ampareen Lyngdoh, Chief Secretary DP Wahlang, and other government dignitaries.

Dr. Manjunathan’s body was then transported directly from Civil Hospital, Shillong, to Guwahati Airport, from where it was flown to his hometown of Bangalore, Karnataka, for the final cremation rites.

The IFS officer, who held the dual role of Secretary of the Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department and Chairman of the Meghalaya State Pollution Control Board, resided in Shillong while his wife was at their native place in Karnataka.

The untimely loss of Dr. C. Manjunathan has left a void in the hearts of many who recognized his dedication and contributions to the state of Meghalaya. His legacy and service to the region will be remembered with deep respect.
