Guwahati: Sensation prevailed in the entire area after the body of a youth was found under mysterious circumstances inside a room in Guwahati’s Beltola on Saturday.
The victim has been identified as Rupjyoti Sarma, a resident of Shanti Gram Housing Complex of Jayanagar area in the city.
According to reports, the body was recovered in his friend’s renting room in the Udyan area of Beltola.
His family claimed that the room was locked from outside when his body was discovered.
Meanwhile, the owner of the room named Rahul Ali has been arrested by Basistha Police and investigation into the matter has been initiated.
It is suspected the Rupjyoti died due to drug overdose.
However, the exact cause of his death will be ascertained after a post-mortem, police said.
