Guwahati: A 30-year-old woman has been found dead under mysterious circumstances from Aizawl city of Manipur.
The deceased has been identified as Vanlalhmangaihzuali who is a resident of Lunglei near Aizawl city.
The body has been recovered from an elevator shaft of a hotel of the city.
According to reports, she was missing since April15 and on Tuesday the police officials recovered her decomposed body.
Following preliminary investigation, it is being suspected that the woman, who died after falling into the elevator shaft of the hotel.
The woman is believed to have fallen into the elevator shaft as a result of a malfunctioning elevator door.
However, the family of the deceased woman has accused the police of foul play and believes it was a murder case.
On April 13, the couple arrived in Aizawl and were staying at the Lushai Hills Residency hotel.
T Zodinsanga, the deceased woman’s lover, filed a missing person report with the police on April 15, claiming that he last saw her on April 13.
Following receipt of the complaint, an investigation was begun, and a search was done in the hotel where the couple was staying.
Meanwhile, police have taken Zodinsanga into their custody for interrogation and further investigation into the matter is underway.
