Bollywood Star Padmini Kolhapure Embraces Assam’s Culture with a Bihu Performance in Tezpur

Guwahati: Tezpur recently came alive with a cultural spectacle as former Bollywood star Padmini Kolhapure, famed for her iconic roles in classics like Prem Rog and Pyar Jhukta Nahin, connected with Assam’s rich heritage by performing the traditional Bihu dance.

Draped in traditional Assamese attire, including a ‘gamkharu’ bracelet and a ‘muga riha’ silk garment, Kolhapure participated in a special filming sequence dedicated to Bihu. The performance highlighted the state’s vibrant cultural essence and showcased her admiration for its traditions.

Before the shoot, the actress visited the historic Mahabhairav Temple, seeking blessings from Lord Shiva. Sharing her thoughts with the media, Kolhapure expressed deep admiration for Assam’s unique cultural identity, distinctive traditional attire, and delectable cuisine. She revealed her love for Assamese food and described the Bihu dance as having a special place in her heart.

During her interaction, Kolhapure also praised the progress India has made under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, calling it a transformative period for the nation. However, she briefly expressed disappointment over an incident involving Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan but chose not to delve into details.

Currently filming across picturesque locations in Tezpur, Kolhapure remained reserved about the specifics of her ongoing project. However, her enthusiasm for Assam’s breathtaking landscapes and cultural vibrancy was evident, marking a memorable visit that celebrated the spirit of the state.
