Bomb Threat creates panic In Meghalaya, security agencies find no explosives

Guwahati: A single unclaimed suitcase by the side of the road close to the Anjalee Petrol Pump in Shillong raised the threat of a bomb on January 13 at around 3:30 PM.

Upon receiving information, Meghalaya Police along with the Bomb Squad swiftly rushed to the scene and cordoned off the area and diverted the traffic near the petrol pump at Anjalee.

However, no bomb was found and when it was opened, only some worn-out garments were inside.

The two children who had been missing since the Mawbah house fire incident on January 10 were confirmed dead by Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma.

“The MLA has approached the Deputy Commissioner, so definitely from my side, I will be looking into the entire thing and as per procedures and norms that are there”, said Chief Minister.

“…it is a very tragic incident as two children have passed away and therefore it is a very deep lost for them so definitely the government will support in every possible way”, he added.

Notably, in a heart-rending incident, two children reportedly went missing after a massive fire gutted 5-6 houses at a locality in Mawbah on January 10.

The Superintendent of Police for East Khasi Hills, Raghavendra Kumar MG and his team arrived on the scene and determined that the short circuit was what started the fire.

The improvised wooden homes were constructed above a building, making them visible from many places, particularly in Mawprem.
