Bomb Threat Hoax at Gauhati High Court Disrupts Morning, Police Investigate
Guwahati: Panic rippled through the Gauhati High Court earlier today, April 22, as authorities confirmed receiving a bomb threat that triggered an immediate security response.
Police officials stated that an email containing the menacing message arrived this morning, warning of an imminent explosion within the court premises.
Swift action followed the alarming notification, with a dedicated police team being dispatched to the high court without delay. A senior police officer, speaking to the Press Trust of India (PTI), assured that a thorough sweep of the entire building was underway by their expert personnel.
Despite the comprehensive search efforts, the officer indicated that no suspicious materials had been discovered up to that point, leading them to suspect the threat to be a hoax. The officer further noted that a clearer picture would emerge once the ongoing search operation concludes.
Adding to the details, a high-ranking official within the high court disclosed that the threatening email originated from an unidentified entity identifying itself as ‘Madras Tigers,’ vowing to detonate the entire structure.
The official acknowledged the prompt arrival of law enforcement, who have initiated a detailed search, deploying specialized equipment to ensure the complete sanitization of the premises.
Despite the unsettling disruption caused by the bomb threat and the ensuing security protocols, the senior high court official affirmed that the judicial proceedings have remained unaffected. The judges are reportedly continuing their scheduled hearings, underscoring the resilience and commitment to their duties even amidst the security scare.
