Bongaigaon Refinery Inks MoU With Chirang and Kokrajhar District to support TB Patients

Guwahati: The Bongaigaon Refinery inks an agreement with the district administrations of Chirang, Bongaigaon and Kokrajhar to give nutritional support to 750 TB patients, or 250 TB patients in each of those districts for a period of 12 months.

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) has created the ambitious National Strategy Plan TB Mukt Bharat by 2025. TB Mukt Bharat by 2025 is the government of India’s stated goal, and at the same time, they are making an appeal for nutritional assistance for TB sufferers.

Each District TB officer, IOCL, and BGR will deliver food baskets as a form of nutritional support to the identified TB patients. Bongaigaon Refinery has signed a MoU with the Office of the Deputy Commissioner of each district in order to guarantee that the benefit reaches the underprivileged.

An Agreement has been signed with the district administration of Kokrajhar in an effort to empower rural women there to become self-sufficient. This money will only be used to build 250 huts for growing mushrooms for women’s self-help groups (SHGs).

The MoU is in line with the Indian Prime Minister’s “One District, One Product (ODOP)” concept. Also, it has been determined that mushrooms are a practical source of income, empowering the local women. The rural women of Kokrajhar will benefit financially from mushroom farming and develop their independence as a result.

A mushroom production shed will be supplied to 250 SHGs in the Kokrajhar district, and the district administration will train them to produce long-lasting mushroom products as a viable source of income.

The MoU was signed on February 15 by Subhram Aditya Bora, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kokrajhar district. In the presence of N K Barua, Executive Director & Refinery Head, Varnali Deka, Deputy Commissioner Kokrajhar, and other top Bongaigaon Refinery officials, Musukha Boro, DGM (Security), signed on behalf of IOCL.
