Border dispute: Assam claims Mizoram constructing road in its territory
Guwahati: A new escalation was sparked between the two northeastern states Assam and Mizoram after the Assam government claimed that the people of Mizoram were constructing a road in Hailakandi district of the state.
According to reports, the road was constructed near Haticherra village inside the reserve forest for the last few days.
Following the activity, the officials informed the Mizoram counterparts who immediately stopped the work and no activity was seen at the location in the last two days, reports claimed.
It was further reported that three JCBs were spotted at the location on Wednesday. Hailakandi DC and SP along with officials will visit the site to conduct a spot verification.
It may be mentioned that an explosion at the Assam Police’s Baicherra forward outpost in Hailakandi district on October 29 sparked tensions between Assam and Mizoram along the inter-state boundary.
