Border Dispute Resolved: Construction of Retaining Wall Resumes at Muhurighat in Belonia

Northeast Desk, 7th July: Following objections from Border Guards of Bangladesh (BGB), the construction of a retaining wall near the completed Single Row Fence (SRF) in Muhurighat, Belonia under South district, was briefly halted. However, after a company commander level flag meeting and intervention by BSF officials, including IG BSF Tripura Frontier Patel Piyush Purushottam Das, IPS, the issue was swiftly resolved.

The completion of the Single Row Fence (SRF) project in Muhurighat, Belonia, was followed by concerns over erosion near the fence base due to heavy rainfall. In response, a retaining wall was being constructed by the construction agency to mitigate the erosion.

According to a BSF official, objections from Border Guards of Bangladesh (BGB) led to a temporary pause in the construction of the retaining wall. Subsequently, a company commander level flag meeting was convened, during which IG BSF Tripura Frontier, Patel Piyush Purushottam Das, IPS, engaged with the Regional Commander of BGB to clarify the issue.

Following the meeting, BGB agreed to allow the construction to proceed, and work on the retaining wall has now resumed. The BSF official emphasized the presence of a robust mechanism for resolving such issues between the two border guarding forces at all levels, ensuring continued cooperation and resolution of border-related matters.
