Guwahati: India’s BrahMos Aerospace Private Limited (BAPL) signed a contract with the Department of National Defence of the Republic of Philippines on January 28, 2022, for the supply of Shore Based Anti-Ship Missile System to the Philippines.

The BAPL is a joint venture company of the Defence Research and Development Organisation.

The contract is an important step forward for the Government of India’s policy of promoting responsible defence exports.

It may be mentioned that at the signing of the contract, the Indian team of BrahMos Aerospace, led by CEO Atul D Rane, Deputy CEO Sanjeev Joshi, Lt Col R Negi, and Praveen Pathak, was present. The Philippines Navy will use these missiles.

The Philippines Navy accepted BAPL’s proposal to supply Shore-Based Anti-Ship Missile systems for USD 374.9 million earlier this month. For the past few months, the DRDO and BAPL have been lobbying hard for the sale of this missile to friendly foreign countries.
