Guwahati: A large altercation broke out in the Paltan Bazar area of Guwahati between a group of transgender individuals and a ponce on Tuesday.
Several persons reportedly suffered injuries in the brawl that started early yesterday.
Local police arrived at the scene and tried to break off the tussle.
According to authorities, the pimp attacked many transgender people with sharp knives, inflicting injuries on a number of them.
One of the key suspects who started the fight and attacked others was detained by the police in the interim.
The detained individual was identified as Subratra Kumar Dey and has been sent to judicial custody.
A case against him has been opened with the case number 466/22 US 294/326/341/392 PIC at the Paltan Bazar police station.
