Guwahati: Legislator from the Baghbar constituency in Assam, Sherman Ali Ahmed was arrested by the Guwahati Police on Saturday evening.
The legislator was arrested for making alleged controversial statements in connection with martyrs of Assam.
Over the past two days, several FIRs were filed against the legislators.
The Assam Pradesh Congress Committee had also served him show-cause notices for his recent activities.
