Breaking: Shiv Sena’s Sanjay Raut Detained After Day-Long Raids In Land Scam Case

Guwahati: Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut has been taken into custody by Enforcement Directorate (ED) agents on Sunday after they searched and questioned him at his Mumbai’s residence.

The Shiv Sena leader had ignored two summonses to appear for questioning in a case involving money laundering.

The investigation team arrived at Mr. Raut’s home in Bandup, in the eastern suburbs of Mumbai at 7 am and started conducting searches with the help of CISF officials.

The ED officials have been interviewing Raut since they arrived at his home in connection with the Patra Chawl land scam case.

Sanjay Raut was called before the ED on June 28 in an effort to stop the money laundering case involving the Rs 1,034 crore Patra Chawl land scandal. Raut had then dared the investigation’s agency to arrest him for refusing to cooperate with the probe and claiming the Monsoon Session of Parliament as justification.

As part of this inquiry, the ED temporarily attached assets belonging to Raut’s wife Varsha Raut and two of his acquaintances in April totaling more than Rs 11.15 crores.
