BRO Launches Massive Snow Clearance Operation in Sikkim

Gangtok: The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) has initiated a large-scale snow clearance operation in North and East Sikkim, following heavy snowfall in the region. The operation aims to ensure uninterrupted movement along key strategic routes, including the Lachung-Lachen axis, the national highway to Nathu La, and Tamze.

The extreme weather conditions have severely impacted socio-economic activities and posed significant challenges for road users. However, a dedicated team from 758 BRTF, operating under Project Swastik, has swiftly mobilized heavy machinery and manpower to keep these crucial border roads operational.

Despite facing harsh conditions, including freezing temperatures, low oxygen levels, high winds, and blizzards, the personnel of BRO remain steadfast in their mission. They are working tirelessly to ensure smooth movement of vehicles and essential supplies, demonstrating their resilience and commitment to maintaining connectivity in the region.
