Guwahati: Brown sugar worth around Rs 5 crore in the international market was seized in Manipur and a person was arrested in the connection.
The seized brown sugar weighed 2.625 kg.
The recovery of brown sugar was made in Tengnoupal district of Manipur.
The arrested person has been identified as 35-year-old Lenminpao, is a resident of Churachandpur district in Manipur.
He was arrested after a joint operation by Assam Rifles troopers and state police.
The drugs were recovered from a vehicle in which the accused was allegedly smuggling the drugs.
The vehicle was apparently travelling from Moreh when it was intercepted.
