BSF and Assam Rifles Make Major Contraband Seizures at Indo-Bangladesh Border
Northeast Desk, 30th September: In a series of successful operations, the vigilant troops of the Border Security Force (BSF) Tripura Frontier and Assam Rifles have seized substantial quantities of contraband at the Indo-Bangladesh border, highlighting their relentless efforts in securing the region from illegal activities.
On a recent operation, BSF troops seized cigarettes (brands Oris and Mond), Dairy Milk chocolates, liquor, and other miscellaneous contraband at the border. The total value of the seized items is estimated to be Rs 37,40,200. This successful interception underscores the exemplary vigilance and responsiveness of the BSF in safeguarding the border.
In a separate operation earlier on September 26, Assam Rifles made a significant contribution to the anti-drug campaign in Tripura by recovering 2,60,000 Yaba tablets worth Rs 52 crore in the international market. The operation took place in the general area of Khayerpur under the West District of Tripura and also led to the seizure of a vehicle used in transporting the drugs.
According to Assam Rifles sources, the successful operation was based on specific intelligence and was well-executed, leading to the recovery of the huge amount of Yaba tablets. The seized drugs have since been handed over to the Customs Department DPF Unit, Agartala, for further proceedings.
These back-to-back successes by BSF and Assam Rifles demonstrate the dedication and efficiency of security forces in countering illegal activities and keeping the region safe from the threat of contraband trafficking.
