BSF Chief Reviews Border Security in Tripura Amidst Bangladesh Political Unrest

Northeast Desk, 7th August: BSF Director General Daljit Singh Chaudhary on August 7 conducted a crucial review of operational preparedness along the Tripura-Bangladesh border in response to the political turmoil in Bangladesh, according to an official statement. The review was part of the Border Security Force’s efforts to ensure heightened security in light of recent developments across the international boundary.

Chaudhary, accompanied by Additional DG Ravi Gandhi and other senior officers, held a meeting at the Tripura Frontier headquarters to assess the current security arrangements. The Director General received a detailed briefing from senior officials regarding the state’s border security measures.

A separate meeting is planned between Chaudhary and Tripura’s Director General of Police Amitabh Ranjan, along with Inspector General (Law & Order) Saumitra Dhar, to discuss the overall security situation along the Bangladesh border. Sources revealed that Chaudhary’s planned visit to specific border areas was canceled; however, the Additional DG will proceed to Srimantapur and Nehalchandrangar in the Sepahijala district to inspect these locations.

In response to the unrest in Bangladesh, the BSF has intensified its surveillance along the 856-km border in Tripura to prevent illegal crossings and maintain border integrity.
