BSF Foils Smuggling Attempt in Meghalaya, Seizes Goods Worth Over Rs 10 Lakhs
Shillong, Meghalaya: The Border Security Force (BSF) has once again dealt a significant blow to smuggling activities along the Indo-Bangladesh border in Meghalaya.
On Monday, November 19, 2023, the BSF’s 4th Battalion, acting on specific intelligence, intercepted a smuggling attempt in East Khasi Hills district.
The vigilant BSF troops seized contraband items worth over Rs 10 lakhs, thwarting the illegal trade. This successful operation underscores the BSF’s unwavering commitment to securing the international border and preventing illicit activities.
Earlier this month, the Meghalaya BSF had also foiled multiple smuggling attempts, seizing cattle and garlic worth over Rs 15 lakhs. The seized items were intended for smuggling to Bangladesh through the border areas of East Khasi Hills and South Garo Hills districts.
The BSF’s consistent efforts in curbing smuggling activities have been instrumental in safeguarding India’s security and economic interests. The force remains vigilant and committed to thwarting any attempts to undermine the nation’s sovereignty.
