BSF Holds Key Coordination Meeting on Border Management in Meghalaya
Northeast Desk, 18th July: The 193 Battalion of the Border Security Force (BSF) in Meghalaya organized a significant coordination meeting on July 17 at BOP Gumaghat to address issues related to border management. The meeting was chaired by T. Lyngwa, the Deputy Commissioner of South West Khasi Hills district.
The gathering brought together BSF personnel, police officials, members of the Customs department, and representatives from the Public Works Department (PWD). The discussions aimed to enhance cooperation among various stakeholders to ensure effective border management and security.
In a post on the microblogging platform X, the BSF Meghalaya troops shared details of the meeting: “The 193 Bn under #BSFMeghalaya organized a coordination meeting at BOP Gumaghat. Various issues related to border management were discussed by all stakeholders eg #BSF, #Police, #Customs, PWD etc. The meeting was chaired by Sh. T. Lyngwa, IAS, DC of South West Khasi Hills.”

In related news, BSF Meghalaya troops detained a Bangladeshi national attempting to smuggle liquor across the border on July 15. The arrest occurred in the East Jaintia Hills district, near the India-Bangladesh border. Acting on specific intelligence, the 172 Battalion BSF conducted a targeted operation near Border Outpost Dona, leading to the apprehension of 22-year-old Shameem, a resident of Sylhet district in Bangladesh.
The BSF’s continued efforts in border management and security highlight the importance of coordination and vigilance in maintaining regional safety.
