BSF Intercepts Major Smuggling Operation in Meghalaya, Seizes Clothing Worth ₹12 Lakhs

Meghalaya– Troops of the Border Security Force (BSF) successfully foiled a significant smuggling operation in the West Garo Hills district on October 19, following a tip-off about illicit activities in the border region.

Acting on specific intelligence, personnel from the 100 Battalion BSF intercepted smugglers attempting to transport clothing items valued at over ₹12 lakhs across the border into Bangladesh. The operation took a decisive turn when BSF troops spotted the suspects and confronted them. Faced with the authorities, the smugglers abandoned their cargo and escaped into the dense vegetation and rugged terrain of the area.

A comprehensive search conducted by BSF personnel led to the discovery of multiple bundles of clothing, which were seized without incident. The confiscated items have been handed over to the relevant customs authorities for further investigation and action.

This successful operation underscores the BSF’s commitment to safeguarding India’s borders and combating smuggling activities that threaten national security and local economies.
