BSF Issues High Alert Along Indo-Bangladesh Border Amid Unrest
Guwahati, 7th August: In response to the ongoing unrest in neighboring Bangladesh, the Border Security Force (BSF) in Guwahati has issued a high alert along the Indo-Bangladesh international border. The BSF has intensified vigilance to preempt any security threats arising from the situation.
A statement from the BSF Guwahati PRO revealed that authorities have declared a state of high alert across the border areas. Commanders at all levels have been instructed to maintain heightened alertness, vigilance, and readiness to manage unforeseen situations effectively.
To ensure strict surveillance, the BSF has bolstered manpower and formed quick reaction teams (QRTs). Eleven BSF battalions, along with a water wing, have been deployed along the border to enhance security. Intensive surveillance is also being conducted at all Land Custom Stations (LCS).
Increased manpower at Border Out Posts (BOPs) is being complemented by the use of surveillance equipment operating at full capacity. Additionally, BSF personnel have been alerted to enhance intelligence operations for real-time information gathering.
The unrest in Bangladesh escalated to violent protests, leading to the resignation and flight of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on August 5. The situation has prompted India to take these precautionary measures to safeguard its border and maintain regional stability.
