BSF Meghalaya Intensifies Border Operations, Apprehends Multiple Individuals Including Bangladeshi and Indian Nationals
Shillong, Meghalaya — In a series of coordinated efforts, the Border Security Force (BSF) Meghalaya, working closely with local law enforcement, successfully apprehended multiple individuals near the international border in separate incidents, underscoring the force’s vigilance along the India-Bangladesh boundary.
In the first operation, acting on a specific intelligence tip, the 4 Bn BSF detained four Bangladeshi nationals and three Indian nationals in the Dawki area of East Khasi Hills district. Those detained include Shorobindu Biswas (37, BD), Royal Talukder (17, BD), Rony Lamin (34, BD, identified as a tout), Kausalla Talukdar (33, BD, female), Shankhor Saha (46, Indian national), Ronbir Saha (9, Indian national), and Suna Lyngdoh (22, Indian national).
In a separate incident near Baldamgiri Tinali, also known as the Tri-Junction in the South West Garo Hills, BSF troops, in collaboration with local police, apprehended seven Bangladeshi nationals. Those detained in this operation include Amir Ali (35), Mir Jahan (45), Biplob Mia (35), Angur Hussain (20), Chand Mia (32), Rasel Mia (32), and MD Bakul Mia (35), all residents of Kurigram District, Bangladesh. Preliminary investigations revealed that these individuals had crossed the border in hopes of traveling to Assam for employment.
Further inquiries disclosed that in Dawki, three Bangladeshi nationals had similarly entered India with intentions of finding employment in Assam, while three Indian nationals had ventured into Bangladesh to visit relatives. Notably, a Bangladeshi national identified as a tout had facilitated transportation arrangements for these individuals.
BSF’s intensified operations reflect a strong commitment to border security and controlling unauthorized crossings, with collaborative efforts between BSF and Meghalaya Police playing a critical role in ensuring safety and curbing illegal activities along the border.
