BSF Meghalaya Seizes Contraband Worth ₹28 Lakh, Thwarts Smuggling Attempt
Shillong: In a significant operation, the Border Security Force (BSF) in Meghalaya intercepted a smuggling attempt along the Indo-Bangladesh border, seizing contraband valued at ₹28 lakh. The vigilant troops also apprehended one Indian national during the operation in the East Khasi Hills district.
Based on specific intelligence, BSF personnel seized items, including zeera, being transported in four mini trucks. This swift and decisive action underscores the BSF’s commitment to curbing illegal activities and safeguarding the border.
The seizure highlights the relentless efforts of the BSF to maintain border security and prevent the unlawful movement of goods. This operation follows another successful bust by the Meghalaya BSF last week, where contraband worth over ₹4.5 lakh—including sugar, garlic, blankets, liquor, and betel nut—was confiscated.
These operations reaffirm the dedication of the BSF in protecting the nation’s borders and ensuring regional security.
