BSF seizes 45 cattles heads in Meghalaya
Guwahati: Border Security Force (BSF) personnel in Meghalaya’s East Khasi Hills and West Jaintia Hills districts have seized around 45 cattle heads.
Officials stated the animals were on their way from the international border to Bangladesh to be smuggled in.
When the cattle were apprehended, they were hiding in deep bushes around 200 metres from the international border, according to the BSF.
BSF Meghalaya has seized 1,047 animals worth over Rs 1.6 crore in the last four months.
“Apart from increasing border vigilance, the BSF Meghalaya has been erecting Mobile Check Posts along sensitive routes to check cattle movement towards the border for smuggling,” it said.
It may be mentioned that the seized cattle were handed over to the concerned police outpost for further disposal.
